Tourism growth registered in post revolutionary Armenia: specialist
Tourism growth has been registered in post revolutionary Armenia, chairman of the Armenian Tourism Federation Mekhak Apresyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“According to official statistics, in the first half of 2018, 10.2% growth of incoming tourist visits were registered as compared with the same span of the past year,” the specialist said.
Apresyan stressed that the conduction of different festivals greatly promotes the development of tourism.
As to the observation that mining industry hinders the development of tourism, Apresyan said, “We should not say just development, we must speak of stable development. If a branch of economy develops in accordance with the stable development principles it should be welcomed be it mining industry, food industry or tourism.”
The specialist said that if in 2006-2007 only 6% of the visits came to the share of 18-35 years old, from 2013 their number grew up to 34%.
