U.S. announces increase of volume of assistance to Armenia
U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated today about the increase of the volume of U.S. assistance to Armenia.
Agreed with the recent political changes in Armenia the United States is providing additional 14 million USD foreign assistance to Armenia to support the country in its initiatives. During the upcoming year the United States is planning to provide more than 26 million USD from its 2018 fiscal year foreign assistance funds which is 20 million USD more from what has been requested for Armenia.
U.S. Embassy press service reports that the funds will support the implementation of key programs relating to the political processes in the country, civil society and strengthening of free mass media.
The funds will also be addressed to the expansion of business and trade opportunities declared priority by the government. They will also be addressed to the energy reforms and development of fast-growing IT sphere in Armenia.
U.S. assistance to Armenia involves many directions of bilateral cooperation, including governance, transparency and accountability, political inclusion, legislative strengthening, and local governance reforms.
