Pashinyan to continue implementing PM’s functions
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated about stepping down but added that the aim is conduction of snap parliamentary elections.
“This resignation is not aimed at leaving the post, flee the responsibility assumed before you but the opposite, complete the velvet, people’s revolution we made together - to conduct snap parliamentary elections and return the whole power to people,” Pashinyan said, addressing the nation.
He said he and the members of the government will continue carrying out their duties.
“Many have concerns that the parliamentary forces will nominate other prime ministerial candidates. The October 2 developments showed that we are ready for any scenario as no force may stop people’s wish. But I do not want to discuss scenario as even despite contradictions, tough debates with a number of parliamentary forces I cannot think that they have an aim or intention to act against people, against Armenia’s security,” he said.
The PM stressed that the parliamentary forces showed that irrespective of all the contradictions the state, stability and security are priorities for them as well.
He stressed that though the resignation is formal but the moment is still exciting.
“It is exciting as with it we sum up a regular phase of our revolution and enter a new era. And now referring to the five months of my premiership, I want to thank you for your unlimited support and trust and apologize to those whose hopes were not justified yet,” the PM said, voicing conviction that everything will be very-very good..
