Syunik residents close Armenia-Iran inter-state road as a sign of protest against Hunan Poghosyan's appointment
Residents of Syunik province have closed Goris-Kapan road’s Karahunj village sector expressing their disagreement toward the appointment of former deputy chief of the police Hunan Poghosyan as governor of the province.
They demand from the government to review the decision. “The governor must be from our province,” the participants of the protest claim.
During Serzh Sargsyan’s presidency Hunan Poghosyan was first deputy chief of the Armenian police. He submitted resignation application on May 11.
“I have always lived openly, I spoke directly without any subcontexts. I have always acted in accordance with my conscience and imperative of my professional debt. I have always served and will serve Republic of Armenia,” Poghosyan stated at a briefing earlier today.
