Acting Justice Minister claims penitentiaries not overloaded
Acting Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan reiterated his statement about unprecedented amnesty to be declared soon.
“This is amnesty, a humanitarian action that will take place in the light of these events,” the acting minister said at a briefing today.
As to the number of paroled convicts, Zeynalyan said that he cannot say the exact number.
“It will be an extended, humanitarian amnesty,” he stated.
As to whether its goal is to reduce the number of convicts in penitentiaries, Zeynalyan stressed that they are not overloaded.
“I insist that there is no such issue in penitentiaries. You will not find a case when two convicts sleep in one bed,” he said.
