Tariffs for gas and electricity may be lowered by 10-15%: Yelk lawmaker

After studies in the procurement market it may be conclude that the electricity and gas tariff may be lowered by 10-15%, Yelk faction MP Hovik Aghazaryan said at the session of ad hoc committee set up to study the justification of current tariffs and the activity of gas and electricity distributors’ system.

“This is just a simple robbery. People buy a product costing 100 AMD in the market and fix it by 150 AMD. They shamelessly enter into the pockets of citizens and steal money. The accent in our work will be put on this circumstance,” Aghazaryan said.

He said that the studies in procurement market showed that the tariff for gas and electricity may be lowered by 10-15%.

Chairman of the committee Michael Melkumyan said the issue of liberalization of networks should also be viewed in parallel with the issue.
