Armenia’s acting PM, Lebanese President discuss development of bilateral relations
Armenia’s acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who is in Lebanon on a two-day working visit met today with country’s President Michel Aoun.
The acting PM thanked for the warm reception, noting that he is happy to visit brotherly country Lebanon. “I am also thankful for your participation and interesting speech in the summit of La Francophonie in Yerevan just a week ago. We had also had an opportunity to exchange ideas about a month ago in New York, and now too we have an opportunity to have a dialogue,” he said, stressing that since Armenia’s independence in 1991 the relations between the two countries and the two peoples have received new quality peculiar to two friendly states and brotherly peoples. “We must use it for strengthening our partnership and implementing our common goals,” the acting PM said.
During the meeting the parties stressed the high level of political dialogue between the two countries and stressed that the Armenian people have special attitude toward Lebanon and its people and the presence of Holy See of Great House of Cilicia in Lebanon is a proof of it.
In his turn, the Lebanese President highly assessed the role of the Lebanese-Armenian community in the political, economic, social, cultural and educational life of the country as well as in the development of relations between the two countries.
The interlocutors referred to the opportunities of development bilateral trade-economic relations and stressed the necessity of undertaking practical steps in that direction.
The acting PM presented the measures the Armenian government is undertaking for fighting against corruption, facilitation of tax and customs procedures, formation of favorable investment environment.
The parties also exchanged thoughts over a number of international and regional issues.
