Hasty discussion and adoption of Electoral Code stems from force majeure situation in Armenia: acting minister
Armenian government offers the National Assembly to discuss amendments in the Electoral Code in 3-hour time at the first and second readings and adopt it only after it, acting Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan said at the NA today.
Asked whether he as a responsible for justice considers it right to discuss constitutional law as a result of hasty discussions, Zeynalyan said, he would not if the situation was common as he too believes that the Electoral legislation needs more in-depth discussion.
“But it is a force majeure situation in the country this is why government offers force majeure solution,” Zeynalyan said.
Republican party MP Khosrov Harutyunyan offered taking a few day break after the first reading for organizing discussions as the conduction of sound political discussions over this legislation is very essential.
Zeynalyan though stressed that the proposal of the government comes from the necessity to manage conduction of snap parliamentary elections in December.
