NA rejects draft Electoral Code
The National Assembly has not approved the bill on making amendments in the Electoral Code. The bill was backed by 56 lawmakers, three voted against.
Before the voting the NA chairman Ara Babloyan accepted the proposal of acting Justice Minister Artak Zeynalyan to postpone the voting until the MPs gather in the NA for voting.
The Republican party MPs boycotted the voting. The ARF-D despite some restrictions backed the bill. Tsarukyan faction, according to the signed memorandum voted for the amendments. Yelk faction lawmakers voted for the bill.
The MPs from the Republican party who stated about backing Nikol Pashinyan were not present at the voting.
The Electoral Code is a constitutional law for the adoption of which 2/3 votes are necessary [63 lawamkers] while today the number of MPs registered in the NA was 57.
