Crisis in Armenia agreed with compulsory snap parliamentary elections: ARF-D MP
An attempt to carry out anything compulsory is unacceptable while the conduction of elections in December, in essence is compulsory, head of the ARF-D faction Armen Rustamyan said at a briefing with reporters, referring to the snap elections and discussions of draft Electoral Code at the NA.
“We have created this force majeure situation by ourselves. We have created a crisis and want to overcome it. This crisis has been created with a simple reason – compulsory conduction of snap parliamentary elections in December,” he said, stressing that in case of their conduction in December two chief problems raise.
“We are forced to chose between bad and not good. If we do not adopt this Electoral Code, the old one stays, which is not a good one, if we approve the new one, we cannot consider elections to be good ones if conducted just in a month after adoption of new Electoral Code. It is not ARF-D’s stubbornness but an order established in the whole world,” he said.
Rustamyan though said that the faction will back the bill at the first reading as it considers the amendments in the Electoral Code positive.
