EAEU-Iran free economic zone agreement to enter into force in early 2019: EAEU Minister
The agreement on EAEU-Iran free economic zone may possibly enter its full force in early 2019, Veronika Nikishina, Minister in charge of Trade of the EAEC, said at a concluding press conference of the Eurasian Week international forum in Yerevan today.
She reminded that the agreement was signed in May and according to the regulation will enter into force after the ratification of parliaments of all the five states.
“The issue is on the agenda of parliaments of all the countries, and we hope our plan to complete the necessary actions by the end of the year will be preserved. In such case we may expect the agreement with Iran enter into force in early 2019,” Nikishina stated.
Speaking about Vietnam-EAEU free economic zone, Nikishina noted that the fears regarding free economic zone with Vietnam were not justified.
“We had concerns regarding not being able to use opposite advantages after opening our market for them. As a result though our trade turnover registered 35% growth. We may even register that the export from EAEU to Vietnam is more than import from Vietnam,” she stated.
