Glazev free to say anything stemming from his country’s interests: Tevan Poghosyan
Statement of Russian president’s consultant about possible membership of Azerbaijan to EAEU gives no room for concerns, chairman of International Center for Human Development Tevan Poghosyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“Armenia is member of EAEU and the CSTO. These establishments need to have consensus for the membership of another country. Such membership, be it in case of Azerbaijan or any other country, is possible only in case of Armenia’s consent,” Poghosyan said.
Earlier today consultant to Russian president Sergey Glazev stated that Azerbaijan’s membership to the organization is possible despite the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“If the EAEU involves all the countries of post-soviet territory the number of conflicts will reduce. Our position is that all the conflicts in the post-soviet territory should be settled through negotiations, consultations and concessions. We are interested in the absence of any conflicts,” he said, speaking about Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
“Glazev is free to make such statement, but he is not representing Armenia. He may say anything that stems from the interests of his country. We will worry in case such statements are made by Zohrab Mnatsakanyan [Armenia’s FM] and Nikol Pashinyan. This is when we should have concerns,” Poghosyan stressed, reminding the speech of Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan at the NA, when he stated that Armenia will not allow Azerbaijan’s membership to the organization and will vote against it.
