NA chairman agrees to convene extraordinary session on Monday if enough signatures gather
It is necessary to be frank in ideas, positions and statements, chairman of the Armenian National Assembly Ara Babloyan told the reporters, speaking about another voting for the draft Electoral Code on Monday.
The NA speaker stressed that as of now the Republicans are already minority in the faction and it may consist of even less than 40 lawmakers, thus it is wrong to put the blame of failure on the opposition.
“There are at least 67-69 MPs who gave their consent to the bill, part of them orally, part of them in a written form. The pain is that they said n words but failed to do it practically. I agree that those who did not come and vote feel the responsibility and now are gathering signatures for conducting extraordinary sitting. It is a right approach,” Babloyan said.
He stressed that as NA chairman he implements his duties and though the Republican faction could have been against new voting he gave that opportunity to initiators for those who wish come and vote for the bill.
“In this regard the Republican faction has not put a pressure on me, trying to convince not to give my consent to it,” he said.
