Election of Armenia’s PM on today’s agenda of National Assembly
Today at 10.00 the National Assembly is convening its extraordinary sitting to discuss the issue of election of Prime Minister of Armenia. The only nominated candidate is acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The deadline for nomination ended yesterday at 6 p.m.
Yelk faction which nominated Nikol Pashinyan’s candidacy stated that it is not going to vote for Pashinyan’s candidacy at this phase. The decision on nomination has been made after consultations with attorneys to ensure constitutionality of the process.
Tsarukyan faction has also stated about staying committed to the agenda and not voting for the candidate. The ARF-D has not expressed its position yet.
If today the PM is not elected the second round of the election will take place in 7 days, on November 1. If PM is not elected on that day as well, the National Assembly will be dissolved according to the law.
