Tsarukyan faction has no intention to impede adoption of new Electoral Code: MP
Tsarukyan faction MP Gevorg Petrosyan does not agree with the observation that the amended Electoral Code failed to pass in the NA because of the absence of the faction MPs.
“Tsarukyan faction had no intention to impede the adoption of the amended Electoral Code,” Petrosyan told the reporters today.
He said five lawmakers were absent from the faction but even in case of presence of four of them the bill would not have passed as it is a constitutional law and demands 63 votes.
The MP stressed that among the four factions Tsarukyan faction had the biggest participation regarding the number.
As to whether there will be absent MPs from the faction at the extraordinary sitting and whether Gagik Tsarukyan will attend it, Petrosyan said he does not know.
The bill on making changes in the Electoral Code failed to be adopted in the parliament due to lack of number of votes. Only 56 MPs voted for the bill against the necessary 63.
The bill will be put for discussion again on October 29.
