Harparak: Republican party aims at becoming opposition center in the NA
Hraparak paper writes that during these days former defense minister Vigen Sargsyan is in “non-stop” meetings with the Republican party’s territorial active, individuals, youth wings. He is discussing the issue on how, with who to participate in the upcoming elections. He is to submit proposals at the Executive Body’s session to be chaired by Serzh Sargsyan.
The paper says the core of the party wants the list be headed by Vigen Sargsyan but other options like the list being headed by Karen Karapetyan are also being discussed.
Asked about the reason of boycotting the new Electoral Code which creates more favorable conditions for the forces, paper’s Republican source said that the issue is not in overcoming 5 or 7% minimal threshold.
“If we decide to participate in the elections we will put a higher threshold. We are not entering the fight for threshold, but we will try to become a real opposition center, which be sure, we will succeed in,” the paper cited the source as saying.
