Armenian side assured U.S. helicopters sold to Azerbaijan not of military use: MFA spokesperson
The arms race in the region is on the agenda of the Armenian side, MFA spokesperson Anna Naghdalyan said at a briefing today, referring to the information on sale of American helicopters to Azerbaijan.
“The arms race is always on the agenda of the Armenian side, and we urge all the members of the international community to refrain from actions that will promote instability and arms race in the region,” Naghdalyan stressed.
As to the sale of American helicopters, the spokesperson said the Armenian side was assured that the helicopters are for civilian use intended for emergency situations and have no military use.
The information about sale of helicopters by the USA to Azerbaijan was published by political analyst, expert on U.S. affairs Suren Sargsyan. In his Facebook page the expert wrote that Azerbaijan has purchased Bell 412 helicopters.
“Many claim that these are civil helicopters and there is no need to worry. While now Azerbaijan has fully military MD-530F attack helicopters “Cayuse Warrior”. If we had raised serious noise previous time such thing would not have happened,” he wrote.
