No need of leaving impression as if Armenian Catholicos’ security endangered: Nikol Pashinyan
Acting justice minister Artak Zeynalyan presented at the cabinet sitting today bill of proposals on making amendments in the Armenia law on ensuring safety of people under special state protection.
The bill authored by the Republican faction MP Mihran Hakobyan was suggesting guaranteeing of security of Catholicos of All Armenians by the law like in case of Armenia’s President, Prime Minister, NA Chairman.
“If the bill is approved the Catholicos’ security will be guaranteed by the law and not at PM’s discretion,” the acting minister said, suggesting not accepting the proposed amendments.
Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he does not see any necessity of such legislative changes as the government is able to ensure the security of Catholicos.
“There is no need of leaving impression as if the security of Armenian Catholicos is endangered. If there is such a perception it is a wrong one,” he stated.
