168 Zham: USA wants more involvement in the Karabakh conflict management structure: Russian analyst

In an interview to 168 Zham Russian political analyst Grigory Trofimchuk referred to the aim of the visit of the U.S. President’s adviser on security issues John Bolton to the region.

“The USA wants more involvement in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict management structure and the U.S. outgoing ambassador made it clear again with his statement about Armenia’s nonconstructive position and particularly Yerevan’s refusal to return part of territories to Azerbaijan. This signal fully corresponds to the spirit of the current U.S. staff – first press firmly than reach arrangement from new force positions,” he told the paper.

The paper says Trofimchuk believes that the uncertain situation in Armenia is a direct opportunity for the USA to strengthen its own influence in the region and weaken positions of Russia.
