Investigative Committee denies petition on recognizing Robert Kocharyan victim in NSS-SIS wiretapped conversation case
The Investigative Committee has declined the petition on recognizing Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan a victim in the case over wiretapped conversation between the Armenian National Security Service director and Special Investigation Service chief.
The petition was submitted by Kocharyan’s representative Hovhannes Khudoyan.
Speaking to Aysor.am, Khudoyan said that the content of the wiretapped conversation confirms the actions being undertaken by high-ranking officials for illegally restricting the freedom of Robert Kocharyan, consequently the latter has a right to be given status of victim in the case and submit a corresponding petition for objective investigation of the case and efficient protection of his judicial interests.
“The petition was declined due to absence of facts over intervention into the activity of court. It has been noted that the conducted full and objective investigation revealed no facts over intervention into court’s activity which as if resulted in the arrest of Robert Kocharyan, thus the grounds for recognizing Kocharyan a victim in the case do not exist,” the representative said.
Khudoyan though stressed that the mentioned reason does not reflect the criminal judicial demands and stated that they are going to appeal it to the Prosecutor’s General office.
