Motivating conflicting parties with statements about better weaponry not good idea: Republican faction head
Head of the Republican party faction Vahram Baghdasaryan considers the statement made by U.S. President Assistant John Bolton regarding U.S. and Russian weapons and the proposal to buy U.S. weaponry instead of Russian as it is better not right.
“In general, I should note that according to arrangements and international conventions, it is not right to sell weapons to conflicting parties. I say it both in case of the USA and Russia. It escalates the situation more. I think it is wrong to motivate the parties with such statements,” Baghdasaryan said.
“We are not heading to war, we are committed to peaceful settlement of the conflict which corresponds to the approaches of the OSCE Minsk Group. Of course, the existing situation demands military empowerment of the state, but here the opinions of experts is important on what and how we should arm,” he stressed.
As to Bolton’s other statement about necessity for Armenia to get rid of its historic clichés, the head of the Republican faction said Armenia does not have such ones.
“We have national values and it is inadmissible for us to reject them. Among this values we understand our traditional families, our territories, our historic achievements, Karabakh issue. This all is our history. To reject history and the past means to put the future under doubt,” Baghdasaryan stressed.
