Election outcome neither useful nor harmful factor for Karabakh conflict settlement process: Vahram Baghdasaryan
The outcome of the upcoming snap parliamentary elections will not be either useful or harmful factor for the Karabakh conflict settlement process, head of the Republican faction Vahram Baghdasaryan said at a briefing today, referring to U.S. President Assistance John Bolton’s statement that Nikol Pashinyan may make more resolute decisions in the Karabakh issue after getting strong mandate.
“I do not see the solution. The options that are being discussed are not accepted by Artsakh, Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples. I guess all are against them. I do not imagine what regulations must be given and over what the common agreement will be reached . They should speak more openly and explain in what conditions they see the solution of the issue,” Baghdasaryan said, stressing that the election outcome may not be either useful or harmful factor for the Karabakh conflict settlement.
As to the observation that the authorities who enjoy public trust may find solution more easily, the Republican faction head said, “You mean it is necessary to conduct a rally in the square and state “dear people, we are returning the liberated territories” and, under the public support, hand back the liberated territories? Is it your vision of the solution? I do not imagine such solution.”
He noted that there is a prior issue which is the issue of recognition of right to self-determination and only then comes the negotiation phase.
“As to what conditions will be forwarded at the negotiation process, I cannot say,” Baghdasaryan concluded.
