No one doubts authorities’ strive to conduct free, fair and transparent elections: Ararat Mirzoyan

The snap parliamentary elections will be conducted in accordance with the Electoral Code that will act at that moment, acting first deputy prime minister Ararat Mirzoyan said.

“If the bill on amendments in the code are approved, the elections will pass according to the amended one, if no, with the old one,” Mirzoyan stated.

As to whether Mirzoyan personally phoned few MPs asking to back the bill, Mirzoyan said, “First I phoned to ask the wellbeing, then to understand the position. No pressures, no requests were made,” he said.

He said the amended Electoral Code offers better conditions and if the other political forces understand it, it will be very good.

“Nevertheless, if they do not understand it and do not back it, it is their business,” Mirzoyan stressed.

He added that no one doubts that the ruling political force wants conduction of free, fair, transparent elections.
