No consensus over amendments to Electoral Code: Republican MP
The discussions of the amendments to the Electoral Code in the parliament could have been brilliant if they were not introduced 42 days before the elections, vice speaker of the parliament, Republican faction MP Arpine Hovhannisyan said at the NA today.
“There is no consensus over Electoral Code with a simple reason that it is not the matter of our wish of this or that system but its introduction just 42 days before the elections,” she stressed.
She also referred to the discussions in the Venice Commission, stressing that it has not adopted any resolution over Armenia’s new Electoral Code.
“The Venice Commission has not approved the resolution. It was just exchange of thoughts over Armenia. It has been registered in their official website. It is not difficult to read it,” she stressed, adding that the Republican faction was ready for consensus if the government would have been ready for discussions of a number of issues.
