Nothing changed in post-revolutionary Armenia, global issues still remain: economist
Reduction of economic activity level has been registered from the beginning of the year, economist Bagrat Asatryan told the reporters today.
“The phenomenon exists, and currently its level is higher as compared with the same span of the past year. We all understand the impact of political and foreign factors on it,” Asatryan said.
He also said that the negative impacts of the revolution have already been neutralized.
“The positive expectations that appeared among the people have not been realized. One of the reasons is the uncertainty still existing in the political field. Usually this period both in Armenia and other countries in general is outlined with active discussions of state budgets, economic programs. Today nothing is being spoken about it. Unfortunately the economic issues have become secondary now,” he stressed.
As to positive developments Bagrat Asatryan stressed that they may be expected only after formation of domestic political stability.
The economist said the slowdown in the economy may also be agreed with the economic situation in Russia and the developments taking place there.
“Mostly negative signals are coming from Russia,” Asatryan said, adding that nothing has changed in post-revolutionary Armenia.
“As to me, nothing has happened in Armenia. One thing is to say the road police stopped taking money, we all see it, but another thing is to speak about eradicated corruption. We all understand that it has not happened yet. The global issues have still remained,” Asatryan said.
