Armenia has big potential to produce branded products: EU Ambassador (video)
Organic Agriculture Support Initiative program put a basis for formation of organic agriculture in Armenia. The program’s target group is small farmers, farmer groups and processors.
Triniti organic wine plant in Aghavnadzor community of Vayors Dzor province is one of the 44 farms that received assistance from EU’s OASI program.
For enhancing wine production the company received 29,941 euro grant from the EU.
The program has also provided technical assistance to 27 small farm groups and grants to 18 other farms.
Within the framework of the program Yerpin European high-quality cheese plant has been set in Vayots Dzor’s Yelpin community with EU’s grant amounting to 49,900 euros.
EU Ambassador to Armenia Piotr Switalski visited today the province to meet with the farmers and get acquainted with the results of the EU’s assistance.
“The European Union has for many years assisted Armenia’s farmers and has become Armenia’s agriculture’s biggest donor,” the EU ambassador said, noting that the EU will continue supporting Armenia.
“There is a big demand of Armenia’s healthy, natural products in the EU. Armenia has a big potential to produce branded products and it is a privilege that many companies have organic certificates with EU’s assistance,” the ambassador said.
He said that EU-Armenia Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement opens a way for deeper, enhanced economic cooperation and creation of new opportunities for establishing closer relations in different directions, including agriculture.
