Drugs in Armenia imported by smuggling which is criminally punished: SRC official
The 2018 was a year of close cooperation between the National Security Service and the police regarding fight against smuggling, head of State Revenue Committee’s department on fighting against smuggling Vardan Vardanyan said at a news conference today, summing up the data for the first 10 months of the running year.
“In 2018 126 cases of smuggling have been prevented, criminal cases have been filed against 70,” Vardanyan said.
He stressed that during the mentioned period unprecedented amount of smuggling of drugs and psychotropic substances have been recorded.
“The criminals tried to import to Armenia more than 4 kg of cocaine, about 500 gram of heroine, over 3 gram of methadone, more than 2 kg of apian, 6 gram hashish, over 4 kg of marihuana as well as sweets containing drugs. Attempts to export of about 8 kg of apian and over 13 kg of methamphetamine have been prevented,” he stressed.
Vardanyan also said cases of attempts of smuggling drugs and psychotropic substances via postal delivery have also been discovered, particularly from the USA and Europe.
Vardanyan also warned all the citizens that it is not allowed to transport any kind of medicine via post and added that there is no customs clearing for drugs in Armenia, they all are being imported by smuggling which is punished by the law.
