Armenian NA vice speaker, Russian ambassador discuss domestic political issues
Armenian National Assembly vice speaker Michael Melkumyan received on October 31 Russia’s Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin, NA press service reports.
During the meeting the parties referred to the domestic political issues of Armenia, election process, economy’s development, Karabakh conflict settlement and other issues.
The sides rated high the improvement and development of economic cooperation between Armenia and Russia.
With the request of the guest, Melkumyan briefed on the procedure of the upcoming parliamentary elections and expressed regret over failure of the amended Electoral Code in the NA, describing it as a “step forward” as compared with the acting Code.
Melkumyan also referred to the works of the NA committee set up to study the grounding of electricity and gas tariffs and presented a number of issues of the sphere.
The vice speaker stressed that few provisions of the inter-state agreement signed between Armenia and Russia in 2013 in gas and electricity spheres limit the efficiency of tariff policy.
