Shant Harutyunyan to be set free after NA adopts amnesty bill
The bill on declaring amnesty will be applied on public figure Shant Harutyunyan if adopted by the National Assembly, the latter’s son Shahen Harutyunyan wrote in his Facebook page.
“At last Shant Harutyunyan will be released from jail,” Shahen Harutyunyan wrote, stressing that for already half a year his father refuses to be released demanding acquittal worthy for a political prisoner.
“For many times Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that Shant Harutyunyan’s demand is right and fair. But he will be set free with other options. He even joked in the NA saying that for releasing Shant Harutyunyan a special operation should be conducted by special forces. As a result, the following happened: a line has been included in the amnesty bill saying that if the amnesty is applied toward a convict he is released from jail irrespective of his wish, and there is no need of convict’s consent or signature. It appears that if the amnesty bill is adopted at November 1 sitting, Shant Harutyunyan will be released from jail in several days,” Shahen Harutyunyan wrote.
