Nagorno Karabakh Republic may be engaged in peace talks after consent of both Baku and Yerevan: Russian FM
For engaging Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the peace talks over conflict settlement, Baku’s and Yerevan’s consent is necessary, which we do not have yet, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a news conference today.
“To change the current two-sided format we need the consent of both parties. As far as we know there is no such consent yet. Frankly speaking, I would not have made it a pre-condition for launching discussions over significant issues for conflict settlement,” Lavorv said, according to Intrefax.
The Russian top diplomat said that the representatives of Karabakh participated in the talks but with the decision of that time Armenian authorities the format of negotiations has changed and they are being held between the Armenian and Azerbaijani parties for quite a long time.
“Of course, we are stemming from the fact that Yerevan considers Karabakh’s position in the talks as well,” Lavrov stated.
