Azerbaijan convinces Washington in Armenia’s readiness to buy weapon from USA: expert
Expert on international right and affairs, political analyst Suren Sargsyan and blogger, designer Sedrak Mkrtchyan have revealed how president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev is reaching authority in Washington.
Speaking to Aysor.am, Sargsyan stressed that this revelation regarding Aliyev is a serious threat to Armenia.
“During the recent years Azerbaijani president is undertaking rather intensive activity in Washington for organizing lobbying activities in Washington aimed at raising Azerbaijan’s authority there,” the political analyst stressed.
Sargsyan said that it is a rather active process, and the Azerbaijanis are spending large amount of money for pushing forward their interests in Washington.
“Among their priorities is suspension of Section 907 of the United States Freedom Support Act about which U.S. President’s adviser John Bolton spoke in Armenia. No one of high-ranking state officials has spoken about it before, but if Bolton mentions about it, it means that Azerbaijan’s lobbying has started giving fruits,” he said.
The political analyst stressed that Azerbaijan has convinced Washington that Armenia has financial means and wants to acquire weapons from the USA.
“I think they are working quite effective and of course their target is Armenia, so in this regard it is a threat to our national security,” the political analyst said.
Sargsyan stressed the studies were done and published still in 2015.
“It is rather complicated work as they mainly try to hide the expenses. But the U.S. legislation obliges to publish certain expenses done for lobbying which helped us in finding the public part of the expenses,” the expert said, adding that they have passed the studies made in 2015 to Armenian state bodies but did not receive any response.
“I do not even know whether they viewed it or not. I have published today’s revelation. If they are interested, I am ready to provide additional information as well,” Sargsyan said.
