No need to wait for changes in the leadership of Republican party: Eduard Sharmazanov

Republican party will convene a council session and later an extended one, party’s spokesperson Eduard Sharmazanov said, speaking to Aysor.am.

“Representatives of territorial and provincial structures will participate in the session which will take place by conduction of snap parliamentary elections,” he said, stressing that the party has not made any final decision yet.

“The most important now is to make the decision and participate in the elections. Currently working atmosphere dominates in the party,” he said, ruling out talks as if many in the party are against participation in the elections.

The spokesperson also stressed that there is no need to wait for changes in the leadership of the party.

“Changes in the leadership may occur only at the party’s congress. As far as Nikol Pashinyan rushed to conduct snap elections, no party is able to organize a congress while if the elections were appointed for May or June we would have probably conducted a congress in February and discussed the issue of refreshing the party’s executive body,” Sharmazanov said.

He stressed that no time has been left and now they either should prepare for elections or organize a congress.
