Republican party lawmaker Karen Karapetyan not to participate in upcoming parliamentary elections
Republican party lawmaker Karen Karapetyan stated about his decision not to participate in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections.
In a released statement Karapetyan stressed that being elected six times as an MP he always tried to use his mandate for the sake of development of the country, improvement of social-economic, cultural-spiritual life of the people. While now he has made a decision not to participate in the upcoming elections.
“It is a difficult decision. I have passed a path with the people, we are in personal relations with many of them, some of them still have expectations from me. But I think it is a time for a break. Becoming an MP is not my goal. Our statehood is undergoing difficult and complicated phase of transformation. The political situation, processes not dear to me, force me this time to refrain from nomination,” Karapetyan wrote in the statement, expressing gratitude to his colleagues for joint work and citizens for trust.
He also stressed that in case of necessity he will voice his opinion and assessments over social-political processes and for doing so it is not necessary to have a mandate.
He also urged the newly formed authorities to focus on the security, economic issues and undertake all the necessary measures to solve the social issues of the population.
