Armenia loses the post of Secretary General in CSTO: expert
Armenia has failed to maintain its post of secretary general in CSTO, editor-in-chief of Russia in Global Politics magazine Fedor Lukyanov said, RIA Novosti reports.
He said that the reason of it is Armenia’s disrespect toward the interests of the organizations.
“Yerevan insisted on appointment of other representative of Armenia but it was clear that no one will back Armenia in the issue. The domestic political motivation the authorities of Armenia were guided with while starting persecution against Khachaturov did not meet the interests of the organization, and the story of his detention put the organization in rather stupid condition and showed Armenia’s real attitude toward the structure,” Lukyanov wrote in the official Telegram channel of the magazine.
“To consider that after it the CSTO will display constructive attitude toward Yerevan’s new ideas would have been strange. Every decision has its consequences,” Lukyanov stressed.
President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev stated that in Astana summit on November 8 a decision was made to appoint representative of Belarus as new secretary general of the organization as it comes the next to assume the post after Armenia.
He said the final decision will be made on December 6 in St. Petersburg.
