Republic party to be useful opposition for Armenia: Aram Sargsyan
Friendly relations with acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not impede leader of Republic party Aram Sargsyan to say what he thinks.
“Those who know me, including Nikol Pashinyan, know that I have always said what I think. I am a correct person, and I will not offend anyone. But I will always express my viewpoint,” Sargsyan said, after signing memorandum with Free Democrats party on creating We bloc.
As to the Republican party being opposition, Sargsyan said, Civil Contract party may form an alliance with Republican party as they both are for Armenia’s membership to EAEU.
“I am an alternative to them, not a rival. I say your path is right. That is why we are founding a bloc with Free Democrats who are always coming for cooperation with western forces and who see the real investments not from Russia but the West,” Sargsyan.
He said their being an opposition will help the authorities. “Our opposition will be in favor of our country. That is why I am in the political field,” he said.
He also said that the Civil Contract offered him to participate in the elections together.
“We were discussing joint participation in the elections. But as far as municipal elections came forth, and the Civil Contract party made a decision to participate with own forces and the elections showed that the party has more votes than it needed there is no sense in forming a bloc with them and the negotiations did not continue anymore,” Sargsyan said.
