Armenia needs wise, strong opposition: Ashotyan
The upcoming elections are not elections of the Prime Minister, Republican party MP Armen Ashotyan told the reporters today.
“The future PM will obviously be Nikol Pashinyan, or another person nominated by him, on who he will try to put all the burden of social-economic issues while he will try to be in shadow and manage the process from the parliament,” he said.
Ashotyan stressed that they are heading to elections to become serious opposition.
“I call on all those who think that our country needs wise, strong opposition to give their votes to the Republican party, and me in particular,” he said, wishing success to all those forces which really want to create political content.
“Political content has been reduced to minimum after the change of power. The political fight has turned into personal offences, labeling. As a result we see that the government has not reached any noticeable results during the past six months,” he said, claiming that the government and the prime minister have deluded the people.
“At the 2019 budget draft discussions we will refer more thoroughly to how the government and the prime minister deluded the people giving them beautiful promises before elections,” he said.
He stressed that the existence of the Republican party in the parliament is first of all necessary to country’s political system. He stressed that Pashinyan’s power must not be absolute.
