Republican party’s participation in snap parliamentary elections to really promote development of democracy in Armenia: Armen Ashotyan
Republican party’s participation in the snap parliamentary elections will really promote the development of democracy in Armenia, Republican faction MP Armen Ashotyan said at the NA today, noting that some forces and political figures have difficulties in digesting the information of their participation in the elections.
“I understand it is difficult to digest the first precedent in Armenia's history when the former authorities are not being destroyed, divided and eliminated like communists, Armenian Pan-National Movement, but are trying to contribute to reinforcement of political system. I think this is the case when Republican party’s participation in the elections will really promote the development of democracy in Armenia,” the MP said.
He said he will be nominated by the rating system in Yerevan N4 constituency which involves his birthplace - Erebuni administrative region.
“I hope there are people who want to see experienced political figures in the parliament,” Ashotyan said.
He also urged the representatives of authorities and particularly two deputy PMs Ararat Mirzoyan and Tigran Avinyan not to be so opinionated in their statements while speaking about Republican party’s participation in the elections.
“Each of them made great speeches, one said we do not have rivals, the Republicans are not competitors to us, the other said we have already won. Guys, do not repeat our mistakes, do not be so self-confident. The collapse starts from arrogance and insolence. Don’t do that. Luckily, there is one civil minister, education and science minister, who said all are competitors for them,” Ashotyan said, adding that even if the deputy PMs had a small contribution to their success it is not as much for them to ascribe that political heritage to them.
