Iran offers higher price for gas than Russia: acting minister
Price for the gas offered by Iran is higher than the one offered by Russia, Armenia's acting energy infrastructures and natural resources minister Garegin Baghramyan told the reporters today.
He said the negotiations were conducted during the tenure of previous minister. According to them, the price for gas offered by Iran is higher by $10 as compared with the price Armenia pays to Russia.
“We view the Iranian gas in the pre-context of secondary feeding. Today we have two-sided gas supply. In case of accidents on the Russian gas pipeline, according to the arrangement with Iran, we increase the volume of supply from it. But today we have no price contract with Iran as we have never received economically more grounded and available proposal from the Iranian side,” the acting minister stressed.
He also said that in case of receiving favorable proposal they will by all means consider it.
As to the possibility of lowering the gas price, Baghramyan said the set committee is studying the issue and the answer to the question will be received from them. “Naturally, we are negotiating over the reduction of gas tariff,” he said.
