Armenian MFA describes discussion of CSTO secretary general appointment issue between Lukashenko and Azerbaijani ambassador “incorrect”
Discussing the issue of appointment of CSTO secretary general at the meeting with Azerbaijani ambassador was not a correct step by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, spokesperson for the Armenian Foreign Ministry Anna Naghdalyan told the reporters today.
“It shows that the CSTO member states have what to discuss over such developments. This shows that there are issues in the organization which need to be solved. As to these case, it is at least not a correct thing to be done,” Naghdalyan said.
At the meeting with Azerbaijani ambassador Lukashenko said they are ready to offer three candidacies for the post of secretary general of the CSTO. He also said he does not want to violate Armenia’s rights.
“Pashinyan is to deal with the situation in the government. Armenia heads EAEU, CSTO which is a very heavy burden for a country being in transition period,” Lukashenko told the ambassador.
