Armenian people understand the importance of upcoming elections: EU Ambassador
The EU regrets the failure of adoption of amended Electoral Code by the parliament, EU Ambassador to Armenia Piotr Świtalski told the reporters today.
“We believe and we are convinced that there is still political will to put additional efforts and improve the Electoral Code after the upcoming elections,” he said.
The ambassador noted that it will be a good path for Armenia to continue strengthening the democracy.
Świtalski said that the Armenian people must be sure in the results of the elections for which certain processes must be carried out.
“We are convinced that a completely new climate has been created in Armenia. There is strong political wish which inspires optimism,” he said.
He stressed that a country may have best Electoral Code, best equipment but fail if there is no political will.
“Armenia has a political will, people have expectations and I think after developments in April and May people know and understand how important these elections are for the country,” the ambassador stressed.
