Armenia’s energy system a bridge between energy systems of EAEU and Iran: acting minister
Armenia’s energy sector has registered considerable achievements in recent years, acting energy infrastructures and natural resources minister Garegin Baghramyan said today at the Energy Week 2018 three-day investment conference in Yerevan. He stressed that energy sector is Armenia’s prior economic branch.
“With the assistance of international financial institutions high voltage sub plants of systemic significance have been upgraded, works on construction of new electricity power transmission lines have been carried out, new technologies have been applied," the acting minister said.
Baghramyan stressed that Armenia is successfully cooperating with Iran and Georgia.
“In 2020-2021 Armenia-Iran and Armenia-Georgia electricity transmission lines of 400 kW power will be exploited which will raise Armenia’s energy system to a completely new level,” the acting minister said, stressing that the implementation of the mentioned programs will give an opportunity to carry out electricity transit, exchanges, trade deals.
Baghramyan said Armenia’s energy system is a bridge between the energy systems of Eurasian Economic Union and Iran which creates wide opportunities for implementation of a number of investment programs both by state and private sectors.
“In the context of development of energy sector we attach special significance to the development of recovering energy as well,” he said, stressing that Armenia has big potential for developing solar energy.
