Vachagan Ghazaryan has to obey court’s decision, nothing can be done now: attorney
The attorneys of Vachagan Ghazaryan, chief bodyguard of Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan cannot undertake any steps as of the moment after the decision made by Court of Cassation on November 15.
“We have to obey the court’s decision. You know that the decision of the Court of Cassation cannot be appealed anywhere,” attorney Armen Harutyunyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
On November 15 the Court of Cassation has uphold the appeal of the prosecutor demanding to apply arrest as preventive measure against Vachagan Ghazaryan.
After receiving the text of the decision, the attorney team will discuss the future steps. Harutyunyan said more probably they will again apply for releasing Ghazaryan for bail or will apply to European Court of Human Rights.
Speaking about the investigation of Ghazaryan’s case, the attorney said that it may last rather long and the “end is not seen.”
He stressed that the aim of keeping Ghazaryan under arrest is not clear and described the decision of the court as unexpected.
Vachagan Ghazaryan is charged with illegal enrichment. The preventive measure was changed against him and he was released against 1 billion AMD bail.
