Upcoming elections not to mean establishment of democracy in Armenia: ARF-D faction head
Obviously the upcoming snap parliamentary elections will take place in the atmosphere of pathos which is favorable for the ruling political force, ARF-D faction head Armen Rustamyan said at a briefing today.
He stressed that on the background of pathos no election frauds will be registered, the authorities will not try to gather votes in other ways as there is no need of it, while at the same time, it does not mean that the elections will be democratic.
“These elections will not serve as a ground for us to assess whether the democratic elections tradition has been established in Armenia. We saw democratic elections in Armenia in 1990-1991 but they did not result in establishment of democracy in Armenia,” he said, adding that the next elections will really show whether democracy has been established or not as that time the current authorities will face the danger of losing the power.
As to ARF-D’s political mistakes during these years, Rustamyan said that he said at an occasion that the ARF-D’s political mistake was making part of coalition where decisions were made without considering their opinion.
As to the staff of the new parliament, Rustamyan said that everything is uncertain due to transition period. “There will be new figures in the NA and it is not clear through what path they will take Armenia,” he said.
