Armenia’s acting FM, CoE Secretary General discuss wide range of issues
Armenia’s acting Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, who is in Strasbourg on a working visit, met with the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland, MFA press service reports.
During the meeting the parties hailed the effective cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe, exchanged ideas over a number of issues on Armenia’s engagement in the establishment.
Stressing the role of the Council of Europe in human right protection, Mnatsakanyan said that the upcoming 70th jubilee of the organization is a good opportunity to sum up the registered achievements and outline the further directions of activity.
The interlocutors also exchanged thoughts over effective implementation of Armenia-Council of Europe action plan and works over new action plan.
The Armenian acting minister briefed on the achievements registered in Armenia toward implementation of reforms, referred to the snap parliamentary elections, stressing that their fair, transparent and free conduction is a priority for the Armenian government.
Mnatsakanyan also presented to the Secretary General Armenia’s position and approaches in the Karabakh conflict settlement process and reiterated the commitment of the Armenian side to settle the conflict peacefully in the sidelines of the OSCE Minsk Group.
