Cooperation arrangements reached with German Production Systems and Design Technology Institute
Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, together with his spouse Nune Sarkissian, visited German Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (Fraunhofer IPK) majoring in developing innovative solutions for the whole spectrum of production processes.
The institute also implements research projects addressed to the development of innovative ideas. It has more than 70 scientific-research centers and functions in a number of countries.
From 2016 the Institute is cooperating with Mesrop Mashtots Old Manusripts Scientific-Research Institute – Matenadaran – over digitalization of ancient and medieval manuscripts and their virtual restoration. From 2017 works on digitalization and restoration of 13-14 centuries Narek prayer book manuscript have launched.
Accompanied with the director of the Institute the Armenian president and his spouse toured in the establishment and got familiarized with its activity.
After the tour a meeting took place with the leadership of the institute during which the cooperation issues were discussed. The leaders of the establishment said they are interested in implementation of projects in Armenia in information and high technology sectors.
President Sarkissian attached significance to the expansion of the activity of the Institute in Armenia and stressed that its representatives have already met with the members of the Armenian government and reached initial cooperation arrangements.
“It does not relate to Matenadaran only, it is spoken about big industrial cooperation,” the President told the reporters, noting that Fraunhofer may become a good partner for Armenia and to-be implemented projects will promote the development of Armenian industry and production efficiency.
