Final court verdict crucial not opinion of Prosecutor General: Kocharyan’s attorney
The opinion of the Prosecutor General or investigator is not important, the important thing is whether the court will consider the submitted arguments reasonable, Robert Kocharyan’s attorney Aram Orbelyan said at a briefing with reporters today.
“The case has not been discussed in essence. I hope that the Prosecutor General thinks there are grounds as if it appears that he thinks there are no grounds but still insists on the petition, we will see serious issues here,” Orbelyan said.
Referring to the possibility of submitting new arguments to the Court of Appeal, the attorney said that according to the law new arguments are not being submitted to the Court of Appeal.
“The Court of Appeal studies whether the first instance court’s decision was legal or not. In this case we also have a position registered in the ruling of the Court of Cassation within the framework of which examination must take place,” the attorney said.
