Russia loves Armenia irrespective of who the ruling authorities are, Konstantin Zatulin, first deputy chairman of the committee of the State Duma for the CIS and European integration affairs said at the first plenary session of Lazarev Club conducted in Yerevan today.

“Today Armenia is undergoing very essential domestic processes. We are interested in permanent exchange of opinion and permanent contacts between our societies in all the sectors,” Zatulin said.

“We know that elections are to be conducted in Armenia and understand that the session of the club is being conducted in very important period for Armenia. But we want to stress that today we do not want to discuss the visions of Armenian or Russian domestic political developments but the issue of peaceful life of the two peoples in conditions of peaceful borders and security,” Zatulin said.

He stressed that “very clever” people in Armenia and Russia advised them to postpone the conduction of the session of the Club in Yerevan.

“We were told that nothing can be held in Armenia today. It is very resolute period here. God forbid someone says something wrong, does something unpleasant. I want to say that we love Armenia, irrespective of who the government, presidents and authorities are,” Zatulin said.

He also noted that they respect the circumstances that did not allow the present and former leaderships attend the Club’s session as they have invited all.
