Water tariff to remain unchanged: Armenian government, Veolia Water company reach agreement
Armenian Energy Infrastructures and Natural Resources Ministry’s Water Committee will implement some of the investment projects of the Veolia Water company, instead the company will not raise the water tariffs for consumers until 2025.
Speaking to Aysor.am, spokesperson for the company Murad Sargsyan said that Public Services Regulatory Commission has approved the application on raising water tariff in 2019 at the November 28 session but this raise will not be applied until 2025 with the agreement reached between the company and the government.
“It has been stated that the application submitted by the company is grounded. With it the water tariff raises up to 202,272 AMD. With the reached agreement the 10,8 AMD growth will not be applied next year but will be postponed until 2025,” Sargsyan said.
He said for the company not to suffer losses the Water Committee will assume the implementation of some of its investment projects.
During the election campaign acting PM Nikol Pashinyan said that the Armenian government and Veolia Water company reached agreement on not raising tariffs for consumers until 2024.
As a result in 2019 as well the consumers will continue paying 180 AMD for each cubic meter.
