Former nature protection minister, MP Aram Harutyunyan charged with money laundering, bribe receiving
Former nature protection minister, current lawmaker Aram Harutyunyan has been charged with receiving a bribe amounting to $14 million, Prosecutor General’s press office reports.
Being in the post of the minister he demanded $14 million bribe for exploitation of mines in Syunik, Gegharkunik and Kotayk provinces.
The $6 million of the mentioned sum S. H. made cash in the period from January 2008 till November 2008. The rest $8 million was transferred to Harutyunyan via bank again in a mediated way.
Aiming to hide the criminal source of the sum Harutyunyan organized money laundering.
Two persons have also been charged with this case.
At the same time it has been revealed that Harutyunyan possesses a mansion, apartments in Yerevan, a building, a restaurant complex, a number of agricultural lands in Kotayk’s Gyughamej village. He has declared over $1.1 million USD.
The received materials are enough for involving Harutyunyan as a defendant and charging him for receiving big amount of bribe and legalization of income in a criminal way.
Armenia’s Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan has submitted petitions to the National Assembly and NA chairman to give consent for Aram Harutyunyan’s arrest.
