Robert Kocharyan unaware of ex defense minister’s order’s text: Attorney
Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan expresses his position, gives assessments during the examination of submitted petitions, attorney Aram Orbelyan told the reporters after the session break today.
He said Kocharyan’s statements are exclusively legal.
As to the ex defense minister’s 0038 order which is evidence in the case and which was decreed on February 23, 2008 on the basis of which charges are filed against Kocharyan for attempt to overthrow constitutional order in the country, the attorney said Kocharyan claims he was not aware of the document.
“Robert Kocharyan’s position over the secret order has been discussed several times. He is not familiarized with the order. The text of the document is not familiar to him. I mean the ministers do not send their orders for getting presidential approve,” Orbelyan said, adding that if it was so, the presidents would have no time for carrying out other functions.
He said the claims that the army participated in the domestic political developments in 2008 are not proved and are just claims of the Special Investigation Service.
As to the observation that Kocharyan puts all the responsibility on former defense minister Michael Harutyunyan who is also a defendant in the case Orbelyan said no such attempts are being made.
“After we clarify many issues agreed with this order we will manage to make certain conclusions. Our objection in this whole process is that a very speeded-up process is taking place,” he said.
